IPAKIKITA ngayong gabi ni Genesis “Azukal” Servania ang dahilan kung bakit siya ikinokonsidera bilang susunod na world champion sa boxing ng bansa sa pag-asinta ng panalo laban sa dating world champion Alexander “El Explosivo” Munoz ng Venezuela sa Grand Ballroom ng Solaire Resort & Casino sa Parañaque City.
Itataya ni Servania ang hawak na World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental super bantamweight title pero higit sa matagumpay na pagdepensa ay kailangan niyang manalo para magkaroon ng tsansang mapalaban sa lehitimong world title sa taong ito.
“This is probably the toughest fight for Genesis since Munoz is a veteran and a former world champion. We need to see how he will do in this fight to know his level.
There are a lot of options for him but that will all depend on the outcome of this fight,” pahayag ni Michael Aldeguer, ang pangulo ng ALA Boxing Promotions na siyang nagtataguyod sa laban na tampok na bakbakan sa Pinoy Pride XXIV.
“Maganda ang nakuha kong karanasan sa one-month training ko sa US at Mexico dahil naka-sparring ako ng mga dating world champions para tumaas ang confidence ko.
Handang-handa talaga ako sa laban na ito,” pahayag ng 22-anyos at hindi pa natatalo sa 23 laban na si Servania. Walang naging problema sa timbang ng dalawang boksingero at si Servania ay pumasok sa 121 pounds habang si Munoz, na dating World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight titlist, ay nasa 122 pounds.
“I came here to win. My advantage is my experience. I have two strong hands, the left and the right, and the knockout will come,” naunang sinabi ni Munoz sa isang interpreter.
Sina Arthur Villanueva at Albert Pagara na hindi pa rin natatalo sa kanilang careers ay makikipagsukatan kina Fernando Aguilar ng Mexico at Isack Junior ng Indonesia sa undercards.
Pumasok si Villanueva (24-0, 14 KOs) at Aguilar (9-6, 1 KO) sa 116 pounds habang sina Pagara (18-0, 12 KOs) at Junior (22-4-2, 8 KOs) ay tumimbang sa 122 pounds. Ang laban ay isasaere ng ABS-CBN bukas ng umaga.
