UMAPELA si Vice-President Jejomar Binay sa mga overseas Filipino workers na sumailalim ang mga ito sa tamang proseso bago pa mag-abroad para masigurong matutulungan sila ng gobyerno sakaling magkaroon sila ng problema sa bansang kanilang patutunguhan.
Ito ang sinabi ni Binay sa panayam sa kanya ng Radyo Inquirer 990AM Biyernes ng umaga matapos manggaling sa Middle East para sa isang official business.
May isang libong OFWs na naunuluyan sa Haji Terminal sa Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, ang natulungan ni Binay na makauwi sa bansa.
Tinukoy ni Binay, na siya ring Presidential Adviser on OFW Concerns, ang mga problema ng mga OFWs sa Syria kung saan 90 porsyento sa mga ito ang undocumented.
Anya, kadalasang nangyayari sa mga OFWs ay umaalis sa bansa bilang turista.
“They would go to countries that don’t require visas, such as Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, or Bangkok. And from there they would then go to the Middle East,” ani Binay.
“We are always appealing to those who intend to go to other countries to go through the process. A large part of problems they experience is culture shock,” dagdag pa nito. – Radyo Inquirer
