HUMINGI na ng tulong ang National Police sa US Drug Enforcement Agency upang matukoy ang Fil-Am na “contact” ng Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel na kasalukuyan umanong nasa Amerika.
Kinilala ang suspek na si Jorge Gomez Torres, isang sabungero na siya umanong umupa sa LPL Ranch, Brgy. Inosluban, Lipa City, kung saan nakasamsam ang pulisya ng 84 kilo ng shabu na nagkakahalaga ng P420 milyon noong Pasko.
“It’s a big possibility that he (Torres) is the contact. He left for the US in the second week of December,” ani Chief Insp. Roque Merdegia, tagapagsalita ng PNP Anti-IIlegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force.
Inaalam pa ng mga otoridad ang kinaroroonan ni Torres sa US, dagdag ni Merdegia. Maliban kay Torres, pinaghahanap na ang iba pang may kaugnayan sa nasabing drug cartel.
Itinanggi naman ni Merdegia ang mga alegas-yon na ninakaw ng kanyang mga ahente ang mga panabong na manok nang magsagawa ang mga ito ng raid.
“Our search warrant only covered the house. I am sure nothing went missing in the whole compound. We have a certificate of orderly search which was witnessed by two local officials,” paliwanag ni Merdegia.
Iniimbestigahan na rin ng pulisya kung sino ang may-ari ng rancho subalit sinabi nito na base sa mga dokumento ay si Torres ang siyang umuupa nito.
Samantala, niliwanag ng isa pang opisyal na wala pang impluwensya sa bansa ang Sinaloa drug cartel. “It’s one of the groups that enters the country but it doesn’t really have a very big clout here.
It is not well-entrenched but it has dealings with the drug syndicates here,” ayon sa isang intelligence officer.
