Senate minority bloc kinuwestiyon ang Senate president: Alan Peter Cayetano resign!
MAS tumitindi ang tensyon sa Senado matapos ang naging panawagan ng Senate minority bloc na magbitiw na sa pwesto si Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.
Ito ay matapos na muling maantala ang plenary session ngayong Martes, June 2, sa kawalan ng quorum dahil sa pag-boycott ng majority bloc.
Ang Senate minority bloc ay binubuo nina Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Sens. Juan Miguel Zubiri, Kiko Pangilinan, Panfilo Lacson, JV Ejercito, Sherwin Gatchalian, Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, Lito Lapid, at magkapatid na sina Raffy at Erwin Tulfo.
Sa kanilang inilabas na joint statement, iginiit nila na ang mga nangyari sa Senado ay malinaw na pagtalikod sa tungkulin at pag-abandona ng liderato ng kapulungan.

“What happened today was a clear abandonment of responsibility, a dereliction of duty, and a blatant disregard of the rules that govern this institution, because the Senate cannot be made to stop working simply because its presiding officer refuses to lead,” ayon sa pahayag ng Senate minority bloc.
Ipinunto rin nila ang Rule XIV, Section 41 ng Rules of the Senate, na nagsasaad na maaaring ipagpaliban ng Senate President ang isang sesyon matapos kumonsulta sa Majority Leader at Minority Leader.
Ngunit ang naturang batas ay hindi nasunod dahil hindi naman ito dumulog sa minority leader.
Pagpapatuloy ng minority bloc, “This is not merely a procedural lapse—it is a direct violation of the Rules of the Senate and a serious disrespect for the institution and the Filipino people.”
Kasunod nito ay ang tahasang panawagan nila na magbitiw na sa pwesto si Cayetano.
“Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano SHOULD RESIGN as he has shown that he cannot function as the leader of the Senate,” diin ng minority bloc.
Matatandaang dalawang magkasunos na araw na anv kawalang ng quorum sa Swnado kaya hindi natuloy ang plenary session.
Inamin rin ni Cayetano na ginagamit ng majority bloc ang pag-absent sa sesyon na “parliamentary strategy” upang maprotektahan ang mga komite sa Senado, kabilang ang Blue Ribbon Committee.
