“It’s not a sickness. You know, parang she didn’t choose to be,” ang mariin pang sabi ni Sharon about her daughter’s gender.
“So, I support her fully. Walang iniba. Kasi parang feeling ko, I don’t think anybody’s in a position to judge.
“I grew up around gay people, lesbians, you know my mommy took care of tomboys and gay people. I grew up na sila ‘yung laging katulong ni Mommy.
“Friendship-wise, I have a lot of friends who are gays and lesbians who are actually some of the most decent and most loyal, upright people that I have known,” pahayag pa ni Miel na umamin ngang isa siyang queer.
“This month, I’m celebrating: queerness, identity, sexuality, love, and people. The first pride was a riot—always remember,” sey niya sa kanyang Instagram post.
Baka Bet Mo: Sharon ibinandera ang makabagbag-damdaming birthday greeting kay Miel: ‘Thank you for introducing me to K-Pop’
“Though Pride is a time for celebration and togetherness and is an occasion for happiness for the community, we must also remember that there is still so much we are fighting for as a community in this country.
“The rights to safety, the rights to marry who we want to marry, are still heavily debated on by people who make real shots that affect real people.
“Now is the month to show who we are, to show that we exist, and that nobody will silence us or make us feel ashamed in ourselves for being who we are.
“I am here. I exist. I have been here. I have existed. I am a queer Filipino who is proud to be a member of this beautiful, long-standing community,” aniya pa.
