Robin kontra sa mandatory drug testing ng mga artista, mga opisyal ng gobyerno hinamon; 'unfair' daw sey ni Tirso

Tirso Cruz III at Robin Padilla

“I am one in seeking to protect our fellow Filipinos from the ill effects of illegal drugs. This includes my fellow workers in the showbiz industry,” pahayag ni Robin.

“However, we cannot oblige anyone to undergo a drug test, as it is tantamount to violating their human rights.

“That said, I am for them taking a voluntary drug test as this is for their safety and wellbeing. It would also be best if the employers shouldered the expenses for such drug tests,” katwiran ng senador.

Dagdag pang sabi ni Robin, “It would be better if our government officials and employees take drug tests as they have the responsibility to provide our people with a good example.”

Samantala, hindi rin pabor ang Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) sa proposed mandatory drug testing sa hanay ng mga artista, at tinawag pa itong “greatly discriminatory.”

Sabi ni FDCP chairperson at veteran actor Tirso Cruz III sa isang official statement, “The fight against trafficking and use of illegal drugs should be everyone’s concern as law-abiding citizens of the country.

“We find it greatly discriminatory, however, that actors and performers from the entertainment industry are being singled out for drug testing.

“Worse, there is a strong move making producers shoulder the extra cost for all performers’ drug tests.

“This is outright unfair and burdensome coming from a pandemic that left so many of us out of work, and getting back on track remains a huge challenge,” sabi pa ng chairperson ng FDCP.
