Miss World 2021 nanawagan ng ‘world peace’, nagsindi ng kandila para sa Ukraine

NAGPAKITA ng pagsuporta ang Miss World para sa mga mamamayan ng Ukraine na kasalukuyang sinasalakay ng bansang Russia.
Sa naganap na coronation night ng 70th edition ng naturang pageant ngayong araw, March 17 ay nagkaroon ng “Light 4 Ukraine” kung saan nagsindi ng kandila ang mga delegates, judges, at mga tao sa audience. Ito ay sumisimbolo ng panawagan at hiling na sana ay matapos na ang kasalukuyang gyerang nangyayari sa dalawang bansa at matuldukan na ang paghihirap ng mga inosenteng mamamayan ng Ukraine.
Habang itinataas nila ang kandila na alay nila para sa mga Ukranians ay kumakanta naman si Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh ng “The Prayer”. Makikita rin sa “a prayer for peace” sa LED monitor sa stage.

Hindi naman nakadalo ang representative ng Ukraine na si Oleksandra Yaremchuk na kasalukuyang nasa Kyiv ngunit nagpadala naman ito ng mensahe.
“Today, I woke up at five to the sound of bomb explosions nearby. I pray to stop this war. I pray that children won’t die under fire anymore, that women won’t hide in bomb shelters and men won’t suffer on the front. I pray that we Ukrainians would live peaceful lives on our native land,” saad ng dalaga.
Nanawagan rin ang Miss World Organization na magpakita ng suporta at maging pag-asa sa mga apektado ng kasalukuyang gyera.
Ayon sa statement na inilabas ng Miss World Organization, “We are asking for everyone in the world to shine their light for Ukraine-post images on social media- a simple image from every person, every family, every community, and every country shining their light.”
Dagdag pa ni Julia Morley, “We must do something, even if it may seem never enough to light one candle, if we all light a candle together we can change the world.”
