NAANTIG ang Pinoy pageant fans sa isinuot na National Costume ni Miss Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez sa Miss Universe 2021.
Inirampa ngayong Sabado ng Cebu beauty ang ‘Bakunawa dragon’ costume na gawa ng fashion designer na si Axel Que at para naman sa headpiece at accessories ay si Manny Halasan.

Sa isang Instagram post, ipinaliwanag nila ang background ng naging natcos ni Bea.
“The Bakunawa costume is made by Axel Que while the intricate, handcrafted metal headdress depicting the moon and accessories were done by Manny Halasan.”
Ang Bakunawa ay isang malahalimaw na dragon na pinaniniwalaang kumakain sa buwan na kalaunan ay nagdudulot ng eklipse. Bahagi rin ito ng mga ritwal ng mga babaylan o Filipino shamans.
Actually, ang peg ng kanyang costume ay karugtong na kwento mula sa kanyang isinuot nang sumabak sa Miss Universe Philippines nitong September.
Kung matatandaan, isinuot niya bilang kinatawan ng Cebu City ang Philippine mythology character na ‘Bakunawa’ na nasa kanyang gitnang-buhay.
Since pinalad siyang i-represent ang Pilipinas, napagdesisyunan nilang ituloy ang kuwento. This time, ipinakita niya sa buong Universe ang ‘Golden Lunar Dragon,’ ang final form ng Bakunawa.

Ani pa ng MUPh organization, naiuugnay nila ang natcos sa naging growth and personal evolution ng ating pambato.
“The costume is done in gold as it is considered to be the perfect element and acts much like an enchanted armor. The Bakunawa appears in Philippine literature, arts, pop culture, and even children’s games,” paliwanag nila.
Sa Instagram post naman ng designer na si Axel Que, sinabi niyang ang costume ay isang “personal, hypothetical envisioning” sa hitsura ng Bakunawa pagkatapos kainin ang buwan, batay na rin sa mga kwento.
“I chose gold to render the whole piece in because aside from its divine beauty, it is considered as the perfect element ( because it’s chemically one of the least reactive ), and to hopefully imbue this characteristic to the wearer, much like an enchanted armor,” patuloy niya.

Amazeballs naman para sa mga netizen ang kinalabasang depiction nito. Sabi ng iba, ito na raw ang pinakamagandang national costume na naitampok ng mga Pilipina sa pageant world.

Anyway, maaari pang mas maitampok ang Filipino design na isinuot ni Bea lalo na kung magiging winner ito sa Best in National Costume. Magiging malaking bahagi ang boto ng mga fans gamit ang Miss Universe app.
Gaganapin sa Eilat, Israel ngayong Disyembre 12 (Dis. 13 oras sa Maynila) ang final coronation night. Uupong selection committee member ang Kapuso Primetime Queen na si Marian Rivera.
