PINATAWAN kahapon ng multang P20,000 ng PBA Commissioner’s Office si Barangay Ginebra San Miguel guard Mark Caguioa dahil sa kanyang tweet at post-game remarks patungkol sa officiating sa kanilang laro laban sa Alaska Milk Aces nitong nakaraang Linggo.
Sa ulat ng PBA na nakalagay sa kanyang Twitter account sinabi nito na ang pahayag ni Caguioa ay “critical of officiating and considered inimical to the interest of the PBA.”
Matapos makalasap ang Gin Kings ng 102-99 pagkatalo sa Aces noong Linggo, binira ni Caguioa ang mga referee dahil sa hindi nito pagtawag lalo na sa krusyal na bahagi ng laro.
Tinawag ng pangunahing manlalaro ng crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra ang mga referees na ‘bulag’ sa panayam sa mga mamamahayag matapos ang laban at dinala pa niya ang kanyang pagkadismaya sa Twitter.
“So pwede pala sa PBA yung traveling noh? Ksi d naman nila tinatawag on both teams eh [Didn’t know travelling was allowed in the PBA? Because they don’t call it on both teams],” sabi ni Caguioa sa kanyang tweet (@officialMC471).
Ang tinutukoy dito ni Caguioa ay ang isang play ni Aces import Wendell McKines sa huling minuto ng laro na nagresulta ng krusyal na puntos na tuluyang naghatid ng kabiguan sa Gin Kings.
Subalit sinabi ng liga na dapat ay direktang dinala ni Caguioa ang kanyang reklamo o hinaing sa PBA Commissioner’s Office.
“As the leader of his ballclub and a stalwart of the league, Mr. Caguioa realized he should have ventilated his issues to the league office directly for proper remedial action which by rule and long-standing policy is the procedure that players, coaches and team officials must observe,” sabi pa ng ulat ng PBA.
Samantala, nilampaso ng San Mig Coffee Mixers ang Global Port Batang Pier, 102-88, sa kanilang 2013 PBA Governors’ Cup game kagabi sa Cuneta Astrodome sa Pasay City.
Si James Yap, na tinanghal na Best Player of the game, ay nagtala ng 22 puntos kabilang ang 3 for 3 na 3-point field goals para pamunuan ang Mixers.
Nagkaroon din ng rambulan sa laro matapos na magsuntukan sina San Mig Coffee forward Marc Pingris at Global Port center Kelly Nabong sa kalagitnaan ng ikatlong yugto.
Tinawagan naman ng technical foul sina San Mig Coffee import Marqus Blakely at Global Port’s Marvin Hayes dahil sa second motion. Maliban sa technical foul, si Blakely ay napatawan din ng double
