Miss Mexico Andrea Meza waging Miss Universe 2020; Catriona, Pia may mensahe kay Rabiya
WAGI si Miss Mexico Andrea Meza sa grand coronation night ng 2020 Miss Universe na ginanap sa Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino sa Hollywood, Florida, USA.
Kinoronahan si Andrea ni Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi (South Africa) matapos ibandera ang kanyang pangalan bilang bagong reyna ng buong universe.
Napabilib ni Miss Mexico ang lahat ng nakatutok sa pageant, kabilang na nga ang mga judge sa kanyang naging sagot sa Q&A at sa final statement.
Tanong kay Andrea, “If you were the leader of your country. How would you have handled COVID-19 pandemic?”
“I believe there’s not a perfect way to handle this for situations, such as COVID-19. However, I believe that what I would have done was create a lockdown even before everything was that big.
“Because we lost so many lives and we cannot afford that. We have to take care of our people. That’s why I would have taken care of them since the beginning,” aniya pa.
Para naman sa kanyang final statement hinggil sa usaping “changing beauty standards,” ani Andrea, “We live in a society that more and more is more in advanced. as we advance as a society, we also advance in stereotype.
“Beauty isn’t only the way we look. for me, beauty radiates not only in our spirts but in our hearts and the way we conduct ourselves. never permit someone to tell you you are not valuable.”
Nakalaban ng pambatong beauty queen ng Mexico ang apat pang kandidata na nakapasok sa Top 5: sina Julia Gama ng Brazil, Janick Maceta Del Castillo ng Peru, Adline Castelino ng India, at Kimberly Jimenez ng Dominican Republic.
Samantala, ipinaramdam naman ng dalawang Pinay Miss Universe na sina Catriona Gray at Pia Wurztbach ang kanilang suporta at pagmamahal kay Rabiya Mateo matapos itong malaglag sa Top 10.
“Rabiya, we love you. Thank you for pouring your heart for the Philippines. We see your heart queen,” tweet ng 2015 Miss Universe.
Mensahe naman ni Catriona para kay Rabiya, “Sending Rabiya all our love. She made our country proud! 11-year consecutive semi-streak Pilipinassss.”
Pumasok sa Top 21 si Rabiya ngunit hindi na nga siya pinalad na makaabante sa final 10 kaya naman maraming Pinoy ang nadismaya at nalungkot sa resulta.
Ang mga Pinay na nakapag-uwi na ng titulo at korona sa bansa ay sina Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973) at Gloria Diaz (1969).
