“Today we will be talking about our love story’s part two. Let’s start in August 2017, this was when I went back to the Philippines from New York to visit my family,” panimula ni Rachelle.
“We were doing a pre-marriage course and that’s when I really was starting to think about proposing and when that would happen. I was also coming to the Philippines that August to meet her family, that was kind of like the next step.
“I had lunch with a friend, more of a mentor, his name’s Allen. I was telling him about Shin. I was kind of opening up about her, that I feel like she’s definitely the one I want to marry.
“I was going to the Philippines to meet Shin’s family and then maybe sometime down the line in London, I’ll propose,” kuwento ni Martin.
“I started the process of the engagement itself when I knew we were going to Boracay.
“I was trying to find a place around Boracay where we could go and I could propose. I had never been to the Philippines so I had to do some research.”
Pagpapatuloy pa niya, “I didn’t want people to see so it was a nerve-wracking experience, I didn’t want anyone to find out.”
Samantala, inamin nga ni Rachelle na nai-imagine niya that time ang pagpo-propose ng asawa dahil feeling niya perfect timing at perfect place.
“When we were in Boracay, I was not expecting that you would propose but I was hoping that he would propose to me because he was there with my family already. I felt that it was the perfect time for him to do that.
“The funniest time, every morning they were building a tent for special events. Every morning, they were preparing something, and I felt like, “Is this for me? Maybe Martin’s proposing to me.’
“Everytime I see someone preparing something, I would fix my hair… but I was just assuming. It wasn’t,” natatawang chika pa ng singer.
Aniya pa, “On our last day there, I told myself to just stop assuming.”
Hanggang sa yayain na siya ni Martin na mag-dinner date sa huling gabi nila sa Bora, “I wasn’t really thinking it was going to be a proposal.
After ng dinner, niyaya na ni Martin si Rachelle na maglakad-lakad, aniya, “I was trying to figure out how to get the words out.”
Sey pa ni Martin tungkol sa kanyang the one, “I think everyone’s journey is different, but for me, there were three to five things I had as non-negotiables or dealbreakers. First, finding someone who is a Christian.
“Secondly, that you love family,” he told Rachelle. I could see that family is important to you and that was very important to me too.
“Personality and humor is important, and you’re funny. I laugh with you all day, and I guess having fun. You spend the rest of your lives together to be fun and not too serious, there’s a lot of fights, too.”
Hirit naman ni Rachelle, “Marriage is hard work, we’ll get into that next time.”
