Gobyerno, naglaan ng P152.35-B pondo para sa climate change adaptation at disaster risk reduction

Maglalaan ang pamahalaan ng P152.35 bilyong budget para sa implementasyon ng convergence program sa climate change adaptation at disaster risk reduction sa susunod na taon.

Ito ay ayon sa Cabinet Cluster on Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation and Disaster Risk Reduction (CCAM-DRR) na pinamumunuan ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Sabi pa ng cabinet cluster na ang Duterte administration ay naglaan ng P152.35 billion para sa Risk Resiliency Program (RRP) ng pamahalaan sa ilalim ng 2021 National Expenditure Program na isinumite sa Kongreso.

Nabatid na ang hinihirit na pondo ay mas mataas ng 30 porsyento sa P117 bilyong inilaan para sa programa sa taong 2020.

Ayon sa Cabinet cluster, kaya itinaas ang pondo dahil na rin sa pag-align ng mga programa at aktibidad para sa mga priority policy, strategy at proyekto ng Inter-Agency Task Force Technical Working Group on Anticipatory and Forward Plan para sa “new normal” ng CCAM-DDR sector.

Ayon kay DENR Undersecretary for Finance, Information System and Climate Change Analiza Rebuelta-Teh, ang panukalang pondo ay gagamitin sa pagpapatayo ng resilient at sustainable communities habang ang bansa ay dumadaan sa Coronavirus crisis.

“We are still in the midst of a health crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country needs programs that will strengthen the resilience and adaptive capacities of its communities, especially in climate-vulnerable provinces and major urban centers,” sabi pa ni Rebuelta-Teh.
