Cardinal Tagle dinapuan din ng Covid-19

Maging si Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle ay hindi pinatawad ng coronavirus na sakit.

Inanunsyo ng Holy See Press Office nitong Biyernes na si Cardinal Tagle ay nagpositibo sa Covid-19 matapos ang swab test na isinagawa pagkarating ng Maynila nitong Huwebes.

“Cardinal Tagle actually tested positive for Covid-19 with a pharyngeal swab carried out yesterday on his arrival in Manila,” ayon sa maikling pahayag ni  Matteo Bruni, ang director ng Holy See Press Office, ang sangay na naglalathala ng mga opisyal na aktibidad ng Santo Papa at iba pang departamento ng Roman Curia.

Pero sinabi ni Bruni na si Tagle, ang prefect ng Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples ng Vatican “ay walang anumang sintomas at mananatiling nasa mandatory self-quarantine sa Pilipinas.”

Ang Pilipinong cardinal ay ang kauna-unahang tagapamuno ng departamento ng Holy See ang tinamaan ng Covid-19, ayon kay Bruni.

“In the meantime,” dagdag pa niya,  “necessary checks are being carried out among those who have come into contact with His Eminence in recent days.”

Sinabi ni Bruni na bago tumungong Maynila, sumailalim din si ang 63-taong-gulang na cardinal sa swab test noong Setyembre 7, at negatibo ang naging resulta.

Huling beses niyang nakaharap si Pope Francis noong Agosto 29.

Si Cardinal Tagle ay dating arsobispo ng Maynila mula pa 2011, bago siya tumungong Vatican para sa bagong tungkuling iniatas ng Santo Papa.  Siya rin ang presidente ng Caritas Internationalis, ang pederasyon ng pangkawang-gawang organisasyon ng Simbahang Katoliko Romano sa buong mundo.
