“There are disturbing reports that alongside the COVID-19 pandemic, a second and silent pandemic is happening – the increase in the incidence of sexual and other forms of violence. We should not leave women and girls especially those who are vulnerable to abuse and other forms of sexual and gender-based violence (GBV),” ani Romualdez, chairman ng House committee on Women.

“I trust that our law enforcers will immediately respond to the strict order of the

President to protect women and children by ensuring that perpetrators of violence are made accountable for their actions.”

“It is now upon us, agencies of government, civil society, and the general public to continue proactively supporting our established programs in preventing and responding to gender-based violence amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” dagdag pa ng lady solon.

Mula ng ipatupad ang lockdown hanggang noong Hunyo 4 naitala ng PNP ang 1,945 kaso ng violence against women at 1,754 kaso ng violence against children.
