Frontline health workers isalang sa lingguhang COVID-19 test

DAPAT umanong isailalim sa lingguhang CVODI-19 test ang mga frontline workers ng mga ospital at iba ang health care facilities.

Ayon kay Quezon City Rep. Precious Hipolito Castelo bagamat mayroong mga personal protective equipment ang mga health workers na umaasikaso sa mga pasyente na may coronavirus disease 2019, hindi maikakaila ang taas ng tyansa na mahawa ang mga ito.

“I am suggesting that we should have our healthcare workers undergo screening every week for early detection of the virus, since they are exposed to it in the hospitals. Early detection means early isolation, containment and cure,” ani Castelo.

Nangangamba ang lady solon na maiuwi ng mga health workers ang sakit at mahawa ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay at iba pang nakakasalamuha.

“Let us invest in regular screening, which should not cost much especially if done by laboratories owned by the national government and local government units, and the Red Cross. Early detection also means less cost in the future for treatment, which Philhealth pays for.”

Nabatid na mayroong nagreklamo kay Castelo mula sa mga frontline workers ng National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) sa Quezon City dahil huli umano siyang na-test tatlong linggo na ang nakakaraan.

At nagpa-test umano sila dahil isang kasama sa trabaho ang nag-positibo sa COVID-19.

Hindi umano kaagad sinabi sa kanila na 23 sa kanilang mga kasama ang nagpositibo.

Sinabi ni Castelo na masyadong matagal ang dalawa o tatlong linggo bago muling masuri.

“If we wait that long before having them screened, they would have been infected and asymptomatic, and we won’t know it, since it is believed that the virus has an incubation period of 14 days to 21 days. Meanwhile, they are spreading it,” dagdag pa ng lady solon.

Ayon kay Castelo dapat ay sagutin ng PhilHealth ang pagpapa-test sa mga health workers na nasa pribadong ospital.
