Bagyo sasabay sa COVID problem, paghandaan na rin

HABANG nilalabanan ang coronavirus disease 2019, dapat pinaghahandaan na rin umano ng gobyerno ang pagdating ng mga bagyo na magpapalala sa kalagayan ng bansa.

“A typhoon on top of a pandemic is one that we pray will not happen, but nonetheless should prepare for,” ani House Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman.

 May average na 20 bagyo ang pumapasok sa Philippine Area of Responsibility kada taon at lima dito ang may mapaminsalang epekto.

“We are far from flattening the COVID-19 infection curve, but we must be ahead of the curve when it comes to preparing for another kind of disaster. Sana hindi mangyari, pero baka lumala ang ating sitwasyon sa COVID-19 kapag may isang malakas na bagyong darating,” saad ni Hataman.

Noong nakaraang taon ay 17 ang pumasok na bagyo sa PAR at ang mapaminsala sa mga ito ay ang bagyong Tisoy at Ursula.

“Kaya ngayon pa lang, paghandaan na natin ito. Gumawa na ng sistema sa paglilikas ng mga tao kung sakali. Alamin kung sapat ang relief para sa mga pamilyang maapektuhan. At siguruhing may distansiya pa rin ang mga tao sa isa’t isa para hindi na lumala pa ang epidemya,” dagdag pa ng solon.

Ayon kay Hataman may pangangailangan na gawing prayoridad sa Build Build Build program ang mga ospital upang dumami ang bed capacity ng bansa.

“This is also the time to furnish our hospitals and clinics with equipment and staff them with personnel whose salary we should not scrimp on, for these professionals are essential for our survival. Panahon na para pagtuunan natin ng focus ang ating mga ospital at buhusan ng ating suporta.”
