NAGPAABOT ng kanilang tulong ang mga team owners sa mga tauhan ng Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) matapos na itigil nito ang mga laro bunga ng coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Nagbigay ang mga team owners ng tulong pinansyal sa mga empleyado ng liga magmula pa noong Abril 12, halos isang buwan matapos na iutos ng Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagpapatupad ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) sa buong Luzon para mapigil ang pagkalat ng virus.
Si Davao Occidental-Cocolife team owner Claudine Bautista ay nagbigay ng panibagong tulong pinansyal sa MPBL staff habang sina Bong at Rian Cuevas of Nueva Ecija ay nag-donate ng 100 sako ng bigas.
Ang Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines ay namigay naman ng mga kahon ng kanilang iba’t ibang produkto sa mga staff at empleyado ng liga.
“Mr. Cuevas and the Mayor commiserate with the people in these trying times,” sabi ni Nueva Ecija team manager Jai Reyes. “They want to help ease the suffering of the people.”
Nagpasalamat naman si MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes sa mga team owners na nagpaabot ng kanilang tulong sa mga tauhan ng liga na naapektuhan ng ipinatupad na lockdown.
“We want to thank our league members, the team owners who donated to our daily employees,” sabi ni Duremdes. “This is when you can really see the Bayanihan spirit.”
“They saw that the other members of our league needed help, so they extended their hands and gave an assist.”
