Pondo ng LGU payagang gamitin sa hazard pay ng basurero

NANAWAGAN ang EcoWaste Coalition sa Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) na payagan ang paggamit ng development fund para mabigyan ng hazard pay ang mga basurero na itinuturing na frontliners ngayong may Enhanced Community Quarantine.
Ginawa ng EcoWaste ang apela isang araw bago ang World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Nauna ng nagpalabas ng joint memorandum circular ang DILG at Department of Health upang magamit ang 20 porsyento ng development fund sa paglaban sa coronavirus disease 2019.
“We urge the DILG, in coordination with DBM, to further unlock the restrictions on the use of local development fund to give LGUs the flexibility to provide appropriate hazard pay to garbage collectors servicing their areas during the ECQ,” ani Jove Benosa, Zero Waste Campaigner. “We request the DILG and the DBM to issue a follow-up Memorandum Circular to this effect.”
Ang mga basurero ay kalimitang empleyado ng contractor na kinuha ng lokal na pamahalaan para maghakot ng basura.
