UMAPELA si Senior Citizens Rep. Francisco Datol Jr., na payagan ang mga laundry shop na magbukas habang ipinatutupad ang Enhanced Community Quarantine.
Ayon kay Datol mayroong mga bahay na senior citizens lamang ang nakatira at hirap ng maglaba.
Inirerekomenda ang agad na paglalaba ng mga damit na isinuot sa labas upang mapatay ang coronavirus disease 2019 kung nalagyan man ito.
“Clean laundry is essential to proper personal hygiene, disinfection, and decontamination. Having piles of dirty laundry at home and wearing dirty clothes for days increase the risks of getting sick,” ani Datol sa isang press statement. “These days, households consider laundry services essential services. In many places, the laundry shops have replaced the labandera.”
Bukod sa mga senior citizens umaasa rin umano sa mga laundry shops ang mga persons with disability, solo parents at living solo.
“Making them hand wash their laundry is a heavy burden best left done by the more thorough cleaning of washing machines,” dagdag pa ng solon. “Many people now spend hours waiting in line at public markets, supermarkets, drugstores and groceries. They have little time left to do the laundry.”
