Davao Occidental nakahirit ng Game 3 sa MPBL South Division Finals

NAKAHIRIT ang top seed Davao Occidental-Cocolife Tigers ng do-or-die Game 3 matapos talunin ang No. 3 seed Basilan-Jumbo Plastic Steel, 81-76, sa Game 2 ng kanilang 2020 Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan South Division Finals Miyerkules ng gabi sa Lamitan City Gym sa Basilan.

Matapos na itabla ni Allyn Bulanadi ang iskor sa 74-all may 1:33 ang nalalabi sa laro, naghulog si Billy Ray Robles ng left-wing triple para ibigay sa Davao Occidental ang 77-74 kalamangan bago muling nakaiskor si Bulanadi.

Nagawa namang makalusot ni Bonbon Custodio para makaiskor sa isang bank shot sa harap ni Steel big man Jay Collado at ibigay sa Tigers ang 79-76 kalamangan.

Sumablay naman si Bulanadi sa kanyang 3-pointer sa sumunod na play bago naghulog ng dalawang free throws si Mark Yee para selyuhan ang panalo ng Davao Occidental.

“We were doing good but Basilan is bound to come back. They are big shotmakers. But our guys fought tonight with our backs against the wall and I can’t be more proud,” sabi ni Davao coach Don Dulay.

Hawak ng Tigers ang 64-55 bentahe papasok sa ikaapat na yugto nang biglang mag-init si Jhaps Bautista para sa Basilan. Bumitaw si Bautista ng apat na 3-pointers at isang assist para ibigay sa Steel ang 69-65 bentahe may 4:31 ang nalalabi sa laro.

“We have pretty tough defenders on our side. It’s always a team effort and not just rely on Eman, Mocon, Billy. It has to be always a team effort,” dagdag pa ni Dulay.

Pinamunuan ni Eman Calo ang Davao sa itinalang 17 puntos, walong rebound, tatlong assist at tatlong steal habang si Richard Albo ay nag-ambag mula sa bench ng 14 puntos.

Kumana naman si Bautista ng 24 puntos, anim na rebound at apat na assist para sa Basilan habang si Jay Collado ay nagdagdag ng 21 puntos at walong rebound.

Ang winner-take-all Game 3 ay gaganapin ngayong Sabado sa Davao.
