HINILING ng Office of the Solicitor General sa Korte Suprema na bawiin ang prangkisa ng broadcast network na ABS-CBN.
Sinabi ni Solicitor General Jose Calida na inihain niya ang kaso para mapigilan ang “abusive practices” ng network.
“We want to put an end to what we discovered to be highly abusive practices of ABS-CBN benefitting a greedy few at the expense of millions of its loyal subscribers. These practices have gone unnoticed or were disregarded for years,” sabi ni Calida.
Idinagdag ni Calida na base sa kanyang petisyon, makikita na itinatago ng ABS-CBN ang mga banyagang nagmamay-ari ng network na paglabag sa Konstitusyon.
“This simply means that mass media companies operating in the Philippines must be 100 percent Filipino owned because they play an integral role in a nation’s economic, political, and socio-cultural landscape,” dagdag ni Calida.
