ISA si 13-time Philippine Open champion Grandmaster Rogelio “Joey” Antonio Jr. sa mga pangunahing kalahok sa gaganapin na 2019 GM Rosendo Balinas Memorial Cup chess championship ngayong Lunes, Setyembre 2, sa Activity Hall ng Alphaland Makati Place, Makati City.
Ang chess tournament na suportado ng pamilya Balinas sa pangunguna nina Engr. Antonio “Tony” Carreon Balinas at Joe Carreon Balinas ay inorganisa nina National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) director Atty. Cliburn Antony Orbe at Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) president Dr. Jenny Mayor.
Si Antonio, ang runner-up sa 2017 World Seniors Chess Championship sa Italy, ay magmumula sa pagwawagi sa Open Kitchen Rapid Chess, IGB Senior Chess, at Torrevillas Knights Cup Open Rapid Chess Championship.
Ang 57-anyos na si Antonio ay nakatakdang katawanin ang Pilipinas sa FIDE (World Chess Federation) World Seniors Chess Championship sa Nobyembre 11-24 sa Bucharest, Romania.
Kabilang sa mga makakatunggali ni Antonio para sa titulo sina GM Darwin Laylo, GM John Paul Gomez, International Master Paulo Bersamina, IM Daniel Quizon, IM Angelo Young, IM Ricky de Guzman, IM Cris Ramayrat, National Master Nick Nisperos, NM Carlo Magno Rosaupan, NM Julius Sinangote at untitled qualifiers Sherwin Tiu, Kevin Mirano, Rolly Parondo, Jr., Alfredo Rapanot at Michael Concio, Jr.
