Si Duterte ang nanaig, Cayetano nanalong Speaker

SI Pangulong Duterte ang nanaig.

Sa gitna ng mga usapin kaugnay ng pagsuway sa Pangulo, si Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano ang nanalong speaker ng 18th Congress.

Nakakuha si Cayetano ng 266 boto. Mayroong 305 miyembro ng Kamara de Representantes.

Ang magiging House minority leader naman ay ang nag-iisang katunggali ni Cayetano na si Manila Rep. Benny Abante na nakakuha ng 28 boto.

Nag-abstain naman sa botohan sina Buhay Rep. Lito Atienza at Magdalo Rep. Manuel Cabochan. Si Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman ay nagpahayag naman na hindi siya boboto.

Si presidential son at Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte ang unang nag-nominate kay Cayetano pero binitin pa nito ang pagsasabi sa pangalan ni Cayetano matapos ipahayag ang kanyang pagtutol sa term sharing sa speakership position.

“I am against any term sharing agreements however if the speaker resigns after 15 months then we will have to elect a new speaker; Mr. Speaker I nominate a leader who understands local and national governance, one who can bridge the different branches of government……. I nominate Taguig Representatives Alan Peter Cayetano,” ani Rep. Duterte.

Ang tinutukoy ni Rep. Duterte ay ang pahayag ng kanyang ama na 15 buwan lamang si Cayetano manunungkulan at papalitan ni Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.

Si Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez naman ang itinalagang House Majority Leader.

Tumayo rin sina Velasco at Romualdez upang i-nominate si Cayetano. Ang tatlo ang strong contenders sa pagka-speaker bago nagsalita ang Pangulo kaugnay ng term sharing nina Velasco at Cayetano at irekomenda na maging Majority Leader si Romualdez.
