SA halip na matuwa, tinuligsa ng Alliance of Concerned Teachers si Sen. Bong Go sa panukala nitong itaas ang sahod ng empleyado sa gobyerno ng P19.60 kada araw.
Sa ilalim ng Senate Bill 200 na akda ni Go, ang sahod ng empleyado na nasa kategoryang Salary Grade 1 ay itataas mula P11,068 sa P11,656.
“A P588 increase only amounts to a measly P19.6 daily addition to a family’s budget. That won’t even afford a person one decent meal, let alone feed an entire family. Go’s proposal is an insult to the dignity and dedicated service of rank-and-file civilian employees. His meaningless pay hike proposal is unacceptable to public sector workers,” ani ACT National Chairperson Joselyn Martinez.
Sinabi ni Martinez na nakakapangamba na ang ganitong klase ng panukala ay galing sa isang tao na malapit kay Pangulong Duterte.
“As the President’s closest aide, we can’t help but wonder if this pay hike bill has the support of the President. If so, that would be enraging to over 1 million government workers who are already suffering due to low pay and record-high surge in prices under this administration,” dagdag pa ni Martinez.
Dapat din umanong asikasuhin ang mababang minimum wage ng mga pribadong empleyado lalo na sa National Capital Region.
