EcoWaste nagbabala sa wet wipes na nakaka-allergy

NAGBABALA ang EcoWaste Coalition sa publiko kaugnay ng paggamit ng wet wipes products na hinaluan ng mapanganib at ipinagbabawal na kemikal.

Sumulat na rin ang EcoWaste Coalition sa Food and Drug Administration upang suriin ang mga produkto na nagtataglay umano ng preservatives na methylchloroisothiazolinone at methylisothiazolinone na maaaring magdulot ng allergic contact dermatitis.

Sa ilalim ng FDA Advisory No. 2017-006 na inulit sa FDA Advisory No. 2018-034, ang methylisothiazolinone ay ipinagbabawal sa mga leave-on products gaya ng wet wipes.

“We are concerned that wet wipes containing MCI/MIT, including some products that bear Cosmetic Notification No., are still sold in the market. The continued sale of these supposedly hygiene products is disturbing as these preservatives on leave-on products is a common cause of ACD causing skin rash or lesion and other signs and symptoms,” ani Thony Dizon, Chemical Safety Campaigner ng EcoWaste.

Sa pagsusuri ng EcoWaste mayroong MCI/MIT ang Dong Bang, Dong Bang Yao Baby Tender, Family Treasure Baby Tender, Sky Fire Baby Tender at Giggley Baby Wipes na ibinebenta ng P20-P25 kada pakete.

Ang Super Soft Skin Care Wet Towel” na ibinebenta umano ng P19 kada pakete ay mayroong iodopropynyl butylcarbamate na ipinagbabawal sa mga produkto para sa mga batang wala pang tatlong taong gulang alinsunod sa pamantayan ng European Union.

“While the product we found is not called ‘Baby Wipes,’ its packaging contains an image of a baby, plus a ‘Triple Baby Protection’ mark, which may entice consumers to use it to clean baby’s face, hands, bottom, and genital,” dagdag pa ni Dizon.
