Raymond Lauchengco may hugot sa mga nanonood ng concert

Alex Brosas - May 11, 2019 - 12:01 AM

WE were expecting Raymond Lauchengco to perform his hit song “Farewell” during the “Into The 80s” presscon sa Solaire but he opted to sing “So It’s You.”

“Farewell” is our favorite song. We were ready to shed a tear na sana habang naririnig namin ang mga linyang ito:

“We used to be frightened and scared to try

“Of things we don’t really understand why

“We laugh for a moment and start to cry

“We were crazy….. ”

We would have been emotional because it is one song (aside from Sharon Cuneta’s High School Life) which reminds us of our high school graduation.

When we asked Raymond kung sino ang mga naka-influence sa kanya ng malaki sa music, hindi na kami nagtaka na may pagkasosyal ang kanyang choices.

“I was a strange teenager. I like listening to Broadway. I love the songs of The West Side Story, Rodgers and Hammerstein. I grew up kasi doing musical theaters so my influence was musical theater. And then when I started cutting records, I discovered many pop singers,” he said.

When asked what he missed during the 80’s, Raymond said, “I miss singing and people are just smiling at you. Kasi now, I’m sorry ha, what you see are cellphone. People are watching you but they’re not watching you. They’re watching from their cellphones. I don’t understand it.”

Incidentally, kasama ni Raymond sina Gino Padilla, Lou Bonnevie, Jam Morales and Jet Pangan sa “Into The 80’s” concert sa The Theater at Solaire, Solaire Resort & Casino on May 18.
