34 paaralan sasabak sa 25th Fr. Martin Cup
AABOT sa 34 paaralan ang sasabak sa pagbubukas ng 25th Fr. Martin Cup summer basketball tournament sa Abril 6 sa St. Placid gymnasium ng San Beda University Manila campus sa Mendiola, Maynila.
Ayon kay Fr. Martin Cup organizer Edmundo “Ato” Badolato na idedepensa ng San Beda Red Lions ang kanilang senior division title kontra 14 katunggali.
“This will be the longest running pre-season tournament that dates back to 1994,” sabi ni Badolato sa kanyang pagbisita sa ‘Usapang Sports’ ng Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) Huwebes sa National Press Club (NPC) sa Intramuros, Maynila.
Katuwang ni Badolato sa pagbuo ng Fr. Martin Cup sina Noel Ascue at Nic Jorge.
Sinabi pa ni Badolato na may 14 koponan na pamumunuan ng reigning titlist Adamson University ang sasabak sa junior division.
Mangunguna naman ang National University Lady Bulldogs sa limang koponan na sasalang sa women’s division.
“Again, hinihingi ko po ang suporta ninyo para sa tagumpay ng Fr. Martin Cup. Ito po ang kontribusyon namin sa grassroots sports development program,” sabi pa ni Badolato sa lingguhang sports forum na suportado ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
Bukod sa San Beda, kasali rin ang Mapua University, San Sebastian College, Diliman College, Arellano University, Far Eastern University, AMA University, Preston College, Letran College, La Consolacion College-Manila, National College of Science and Technology, Lyceum Philippines University, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas at University of the Philippines sa seniors division.
Makakasubukan naman ng Adamson Baby Falcons ang Lyceum, FEU, St. Patrick School, Preston College, UST, LCCM, San Beda-Rizal, Letran, Diliman Preparatory School, San Beda-Manila at First City Providential College sa juniors division.
Makakasukatan naman ng Lady Bulldogs sa women’s side ang UST, Enderun, La Salle at University of the East.
