THE 13th Filipino Chinese Schools Alliance Basketball League (FCSABL) came to a rousing end over the weekend with Philippine Sun Yat Sen High School and MGC New Life Christian Academy topping their respective divisions in the one-game finals held at the Philippine Chen Kuang High School gym.

Philippine Sun Yat Sen High School defeated Quezon City Christian Academy, 100-70, to annex the Juniors Division. The team, which lost to Philippine Chen Kuang High School in last year’s finals, finished the nine-school tournament with a perfect 10-0 record.

Philippine Chen Kuang High School, which reigned as champion for two straight years before being dethroned by QCCA in the semifinals, downed MGC NLCA, 73-65, to salvage third place.

Jude Cregencia of PSYSHS was named the Juniors Division’s Most Valuable Player. He was joined on the Mythical First Team by teammate Gezar Ignacio, QCCA’s Steven Binondo, PCKHS’ Henrison Nash and MGC New Life Christian Academy’s Joshua Cheng of MGC New Life Christian Academy.

The Mythical Second Team consisted of Ray Torres of Jubilee Christian Academy, Justin Miguel Liao of Philadelphia High School, Jean Eustaquio of Philippine Institute of Quezon City, Hans Ang of CCF Life Academy and Dereck Chua of Philippine Pasay Chung Hua Academy.

In the 12-Under Developmental Division, Ryan Chua chalked up 28 points, 10 rebounds and four assists as MGC New Life Christian Academy won its second consecutive title with a 65-57 victory over Philippine Institute of Quezon City.

Chua also snared his second consecutive Most Valuable Player hardware in the process.

In the battle for third place, Jubilee Christian Academy shellacked Philadelphia High School, 78-54.

Members of the Developmental Mythical Team were Chua and New Lifers teammate Jotham Santiago, PIQC’s Gabriel Del Mundo, Jubilee Christian Academy’s Bryce Barraza and Philadelphia High School’s Alcindor Yap.

The five-week competitions were supported by Ceramica de Milano, Chachago Tea, Plastic Planet General Merchandise, America Panel Board, Jumbolita Homeware, Surer, Don Luis Philippine Black Garlic, Beverly Homes, Xarion Mondes, Apco Hardware and New Spec Computer.
