Pinoy seaman nagpadala ng $6.14B

UMABOT sa $6.14 bilyon ang naipadalang pera ng mga manlalayag na Filipino noong 2018.
Mas mataas ito sa $5.87 bilyong naipadala noong 2017, ayon kay ACTS-OFW Rep. Aniceto Bertiz III.

Pinakamalaki umano ang ipinadala ng mga manlalayag mula sa Estados Unidos ($2.31 bilyon), Singapore ($563.85 milyon), Germany ($560.98 milyon), Japan ($435.82 milyon), United Kingdom ($331.23 milyon), Hong Kong ($275.53 milyon), the Netherlands ($259.12 milyon), Greece ($174.98 milyon), Panama ($163.62 milyon), Cyprus ($125.19 milyon) at Norway ($115.98 milyon).

Ang mga manlalayag na Filipino ay kalimitang nagtatrabaho sa bulk carriers, container ships, oil, gas, chemical tankers, general cargo ships, pure car carriers at tugboats.

Mayroon ding mga pumapasok sa housekeeping, guest relations, culinary, front office at iba pang maintenance services sa mga cruise ships at floating casinos.

“We see the demand for Filipino sailors rising steadily in tandem with international merchant ship traffic, as economies around the world continue to expand,” ani Bertiz.

Upang magpatuloy umano ito dapat tutukan ng gobyerno ang pagpapaunlad sa maritime education upang manatiling competitive ang mga maglalayag na Pinoy.

Ang mga nagtapos ng Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering ay kalimitang nakakakuha ng magandang posisyon sa maritime industry.
