‘Sana magkaroon uli ng Aawitan Kita sa tv bilang tribute kay Tita Midz!’

KINALAKIHAN na ng inyong lingkod ang programang Aawitan Kita ni Armida Siguion-Reyna na pumanaw limang araw lang ang nakararaan.

Our late maternal grandmother was AK’s biggest fan na nakikisabay pa sa mga kundiman which we also fell in love with at an early age habang kinakanta ang mga ito.

Ang programang ‘yon hosted by Tita Midz (kung tawagin in showbiz circles) had all the simplicity of a musical show but was culturally rich.

Kung ikaw kasi ay isang Pilipino who loved music, lalo pang magbabaga ang iyong sense of nationalism and love for culture ng sariling atin.

Mga simpleng tagpo lang naman ‘yon halimbawa sa ilalim ng puno, o sa tabing-ilog o sa kung saanmang tanawin on the countryside, but the choice of the Tagalog songs being sung by the AK’s singers either clad in Barong Tagalog or saya spelled the difference.

Hindi pa man uso ang videoke noong dekada sitenta when AK had gone on air ay pinauso na nito ang mga pamilyar na awiting puwedeng sabayan amidst awe-inspiring scenic backgrounds.

Minsan na naming naimungkahi ang sana’y pagbabalik ng ganitong uri ng panoorin sa telebisyon, mas maganda nga kung Aawitan Kita pa rin ang peg with a few modifications to it.

Why, because sa rami ng mga mahuhusay nating mang-aawit (na patuloy pang nadaragdagan), there should be a program designed for them.

Isang programa which would not only showcase their worldclass talent in singing, kundi isang pagkakataon na rin para ipagmalaki ang maraming tourist destinations to beef up local tourism.

Namaalam man si Tita Midz pero para sa amin, her noteworthy if not unparalled contribution to music on TV is her legacy. Add to this was her gift of unearthing musical treasures who have made it big in the industry.

Salamat, Tita Midz, sa iyong Aawitan Kita. It’s now the angels’ turn to sing you a song against a real heavenly backdrop.
