Kahit may kaso, Lapeña di sisibakin ni Duterte
NANANATILI ang tiwala ni Pangulong Duterte kay dating Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña sa kabila ng rekomendasyon ng National Bureau of Investigation na kasuhan ito kaugnay sa smuggling ng bilyong-bilyong shabu sa bansa.
Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson at Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo na personal na nakatrabaho ni Duterte si Lapeña kaya alam nito ang pagkatao ng opisyal.
“Well, as far as the President is concerned, he trusts him. But if the evidence proved otherwise, then it will be a different story,” giit ni Panelo. “Yes, he remains constitutionally presumed to be innocent.”
Idinagdag niya na dapat munang ipaubaya sa korte ang kahihinatnan ng kaso ni Lapeña.
Dagdag ni Panelo wala ring balak si Duterte na sibakin si Lapeña sa kanyang posisyon.
Itinalaga ng Pangulo si Lapeña bilang director general ng Technical Education and Skills Development Authority matapos ang kontrobersiya sa Customs.
