Fingerprint verification hindi dapat magdulot ng delay sa pagboto

UMAASA si House committee on suffrage and electoral reforms chairman Sherwin Tugna na makatutulong ang fingerprint verification upang mabawasan ang dayaan sa halalan.

Pero sinabi ni Tugna na dapat siguruhin ng Commission on Elections na magiging sapat pa rin ang oras ng pagboto sa nalalapit na 2019 midterm elections.

“The Comelec should ensure that voting time per individual is maintained at 10 to 15 minutes. Shorter voting times are ideal so more voters are accommodated within the prescribed time of casting of votes. Kailangang matapos ang halalan on time upang hindi maantala ang pagbibilang at pagka-canvass ng boto sa bawat presinto,” ani Tugna.

Papalitan ng Voter Registration Verification System ang tradisyonal na paggamit ng listahan na may litrato para payagang makaboto ang isang tao.

“There were cases before that even “deceased” voters were able to cast their votes. Mayroon din namang hindi nakaboto dahil may bumoto na gamit ang kanilang pangalan. Sa bagong sistema na ito, hindi na basta-basta makakapandaya dahil fingerprint na mismo ng rehistradong botante ang kinakailangan upang makaboto,” ani Tugna.

Nagsagawa ng mock poll sa Quezon City ang Comelec kaugnay ng paggamit ng VRVS.
