NO-show si Pangulong Duterte sa paggunita ng ika-122 anibersaryo ng pagpatay sa pambansang bayani na si Dr. Jose Rizal.
Kinumpirma ng Palasyo na hindi sinipot ni Duterte ang kanyang opisyal na iskedyul sa Rizal Park, San Pedro st., Davao City.
Inirepresenta si Duterte ng kanyang anak na si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Ayon sa Palasyo, nagdesisyon si Duterte na magpahinga na lamang.
Matatandaang hindi rin nakadalo si Duterte sa paggunita ng Bonifacio Day noong Nobyembre 30 sa Bonifacio Monument sa Caloocan City.
Sa mensahe ni Duterte na binasa ni Sara, sinabi ng Pangulo na dapat matuto ang mga Pinoy sa buhay at iniwang pamana ni Rizal.
“It is my sincere hope that this year’s commemoration will inspire everyone to emulate Rizal’s patriotism in their own ways, by supporting the government’s development agenda and our campaign against corruption, criminality and illegal drugs,” sabi ni Duterte.
“Let us all do our part in nation-building and become productive citizens who can contribute to the overall advancement of our nation. True to this year’s theme, I enjoin everyone to focus on developing one’s self for the benefit of our countrymen,” ayon pa kay Duterte.
