Wiretapping vs drug lords pinayagan

INAPRUBAHAN ng Kamara de Representantes sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa ang panukala na gawing legal ang wiretapping sa mga personalidad na sangkot sa sindikato ng ipinagbabawal na gamot.

Sa botong 216 at walang tumutol, inaprubahan ang House bill 8378 upang maging exempted sa anti-wiretapping law ang paggamit ng wiretapping devices sa mga drug lords at kanilang mga kasabwat.

Ayon kay Surigao del Norte Rep. Ace Barbers, chairman ng House committee on dangerous drugs, malaki ang maitutulong ng panukala sa kampanya ng gobyerno laban sa ipinagbabawal na gamot.

Sinabi ni Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo, isa sa may-akda ng panukala, mayroong inilagay na proteksyon sa batas upang hindi malabag ang privacy ng isang indibidwal.

“There must be a lawful order from the court before allowing wiretapping on some cases,” ani Castelo.

Sinabi naman ni Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone, may-akda rin ng panukala, na pinapalawig din nito ang saklaw ng anti-wiretapping law at isinasama na ang lahat ng electronic, mechanical, digital, analog phone system at mga katulad na gamit.

“The measure seeks to outlaw eavesdropping on private communications using modern electronic gadgets or devices and at the same time allows law enforcers to conduct wiretapping on some cases, but with the presence of permit from the court,” ani Evardone.
