LONG before Regine Velasquez became a Kapuso, she was first a Kapamilya.
This, she revealed on her bonggang mediacon after she signed up a contract with ABS-CBN last
Wednesday. She was part pala of the teen show Teen Pan Alley and Triple Treat. She was just an upstart then.
When someone asked her if it is true na half a billion ang talent fee niya sa kanyang conctract sa ABS-CBN, slightly ay na-amuse ang Songbird who said, “Talaga ba?”
But she went on to explain what really made her decide to be a Kapamilya.
“No, you know, at my age and at the stage of my career, we all know, you know, alam nilang lahat ng mga reporters dito na mga kaibigan ko na, hindi naman ako ilusyunadang tao. Alam ko naman kung ano yung lugar ko sa industry.
“Sobra akong touched na touched sa welcome na ibinigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN kasi hindi ko akalain na gan’un ako kaimportante, hindi po ako mailusyunadong tao.
“But the reason why I’m here is because hindi ko alam kung hanggang kailan ko pa kayang kumanta, and
I want to work with their talented singers,” she said.
And she capped her statement with this bonggang one-liner: “Yun talaga ‘yun, na bago man lang matapos ‘yung career ko, masabi kong nakatrabaho ko din ang number one station.”
Clap nang clap ang mga press at ang mga fans ni Regine na nasa Dolphy Theater. True naman kasi ang kanyang sinabi.
Itsinika pa niya na one time, sa isang show sa abroad ay tinanong niya ang audience kung alam nila ang Kapuso show niya. Walang sumagot. Ang ikinaloka niya, may sumigaw na FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano na show ni Coco Martin. Incidentally, okay din daw kay Regine kung magge-guest siya sa serye ni Coco.
