SINABI ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana na nabuking ang plano ng New People’s Army (NPA) na patalsikin si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kaya todo-tanggi ngayon ang mga rebeldeng komunista sa planong tinaguriang “Red October.”
“Their plot to oust the President is true. Deny na sila kasi nabuking. Our troops captured documents in November 2016 after their plenum in Northern Mindanao. The peace talks with them was ongoing during this period but the CPP-NPA were not confident it would last,” sabi ni Lorenzana.
Ayon sa kalihim, sinimulang ipatupad ng mga rebelde ang planong ‘Oust Duterte’ noong Pebrero 2017, nang ihinto ng Pangulo ang usapang pangkapayapaan.
“The ouster was supposed to culminate this October. They reckon that a new president would be more willing to resume the peace talks with them. The plan calls for mass actions all over the country and they hope it will snowball like the EDSA people power,” aniya.
Nag-organisa pa ng mga rally ang mga rebelde at umasang sasali ang ibang grupo, ngunit di nila nakamit ang layon, ayon kay Lorenzana.
“They woefully failed to attract people to join except their usual paid rallysts. But what else is new? The CPP-NPA has been trying to topple administration after another since 1968. They can deny all they want, but we know otherwise by their actions,” aniya.
