Piñol kakain din ng binukbok na bigas

ANO ang problema sa kanin na may bukbok?

Ito ang tanong ni Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol sa mga kritiko ng gobyerno at sinabing nakahanda siyang kumain ng kanin na puno ng bukbok.

“Ang problema lang natin diyan is kung maraming-marami na ‘yung bukbok na inuubos na nung bukbok ‘yung bigas. But it is only 10 lonely bukbok crawling over a sack of rice, so why should we alarmed about that?” sabi ni Piñol.

Idinagdag niya na hindi rin kailangang isailalim sa fumigation ang kanin na may bukbok, kundi dapat hugasan lang nang maigi.

“Serve me that bukbok rice, I will eat it,” dagdag ni Piñol. “I’m a farmer. Bukbok is much a reality to grains as much as black ants is to food. Anong problema nung bukbok? Binubukbok naman talaga ‘yung palay, binubukbok naman talaga ‘yung bigas,” ayon pa kay Piñol.

Samantala, inanunsyo ng kalihim na magbebenta na ng corn-rice ang NFA.

Inirekomenda rin niya sa publiko ang pagkain ng corn-rice bilang alternatibo sa bigas dahil mas maganda umano ito sa kalusugan.

Niluluto umano ito katulad ng pagluluto ng pangkaraniwang bigas.

“The good thing about white corn is that there’s a lot of areas that we could plant it. Unlike sa ating rice na talagang ang ating production areas could only be irrigated areas,” aniya.
