U.S. Marine nahulog sa warship; PH nagdeploy ng choppers, barko

NAG-deploy ang mga otoridad ng mga helicopter at barko para tumulong sa paghahanap sa isang U.S. Marine na nahulog habang dumadaan ang sinakyan niyang warship sa Sulu Sea.

Pinayagan ng gobyerno na makapasok ang mga banyagang barko at sasakyang panghimpapawid na makapasok para magsagawa ng search and rescue operations, sabi ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

Ayon naman kay Lt. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega, hepe ng Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command, nag-dispatch ang kanyang unit ng air search and rescue team nang matunugan ang insidente, ngunit di pa natatagpuan ang sundalong Amerikano.

Ipinadala ang patrol vessel BRP Malabrigo mula Zamboanga City pasado alas-8 ng gabi Biyernes para tumulong sa paghanap sa Marine na nahulog sa USS Essex, sabi naman ni Capt. Armand Balilo, tagapagsalita ng Coast Guard.

Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ng U.S. 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit na nahulog mula sa USS Essex ang isang miyembro nito, at naiulat ang insidente dakong alas-9:40 ng umaga Biyernes.

Di pa nilalabas ang pangalan ng kawal bagamat naipaalam na sa pamilya nito ang kanyang sinapit.

“To date, multiple searches have been conducted inside the ship while embarked aircraft aboard the USS Essex conduct round-the-clock search and rescue operations within the Sulu Sea and Surigao Strait,” anang U.S. Marine unit.
