Filipino journalist Manuel Mogato, Pulitzer winner

WAGI sa prestihiyosong Pulitzer ang Pinoy journalist na si Manuel Mogato na sumulat ng kampanya ng Duterte government laban sa ipinagbabawal na gamot.

Si Mogato at dalawa pa niyang kasamahan sa Reuters na sina Clare Baldwin at Andrew R.C. Marshall, ay ginawaran ng Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting.

Sila ay kinilala sa kanilang natatanging pag-uulat kaugnay ng pagpatay sa mga taong may kaugnayan sa ipinagbabawal na gamot sa ilalim ng drug war ng administrasyon.

Hindi naman sinolo ni Mogato, political and general news correspondent ng Reuters sa bansa, ang parangal sa kanya.

“It was a team effort. Every one in the Manila bureau did their job, but it was months of hard work and I admired the courage, strength, and perseverance of the team to pursue the drug war story,” ani Mogato.

Mayroon ding 13 iba pang mamamahayag na pinarangalan ang Pulitzer sa iba’t ibang kategorya.

Ang Pulitzer ay unang ibinigay noong 1917 para sa mga mamamahayag ng Amerika.

Si Mogato ang ikalawang Filipino journalist na nakatanggap ng prestihiyosong award.  Ang nauna ay si Carlos P. Romulo.
