Bibeth Orteza bagong Festival Director ng TOFARM filmfest

MILAGROS HOW AT BIBETH ORTEZA

NAKAUSAP namin ang batikang direktor na si Joey Romero at ang manunulat na si Bibeth Orteza sa grand launch ng 2018 Banaue International Music Competition spearheaded by Universal Harvester (UH.) together with the local government of Banaue.

Kabilang sila sa mga pinagpilian ni Dr. Milagros How (Universal Harvester, Inc. President and CEO) na ipapalit sa yumaong direktor na si Maryo J. delos Reyes bilang Festival Director ng TOFARM Film Festival na inorganisa rin ng Universal Harvester.

Pero sa ginanap na grand announcement ng 3rd TOFARM filmfest the other day, in-announce ni Dr. How na si Bibeth na ang magiging Festival Director habang Managing Director naman si Direk Joey.

Bago ito, nagkaroon muna raw ng meeting sina Direk Joey, Bibeth at Dr. How and they were asked to attend the launch of 2018 Banaue International Music Composition Competition, a preliminary sa pagbukas nga ng 2018 TOFARM filmfest.

Personally, nagustuhan ni Bibeth ang interest ni Dr. How sa iba’t ibang mga bagay gaya nitong Banaue Music competition.

“Ako I‘m moved by this effort to not only work for the preservation of Batanes but corollary to it is having a symphonic orchestra composition contest using a preferably a native instruments. Kasi right now, my husband (Direk Carlitos Siguion Reyna) is involved in combination of opera and fashion show, ‘Pasasalamat For Marawi’ on April 6.

“So, he asked me to do the script for that. So, classical music tapos ‘yung tama sa akin na marinig ‘yung native instruments. Kanina naisip ko, ‘Ay exactly,’ mga ganyan,” lahad ni Bibeth.

Ang 2018 Banaue Music Composition Competition ang kauna-unahan sa Pilipinas na magbibigay ng malalaking cash prize such as US$12,000 (grand prize), two consolation prizes worth US$6,000 each and a week-long immersion in Banaue.

Sampu lang ang mapipili to be the finalists to perform on the Finals Night on July 25 sa CCP. This competition is in line with the Banaue Rice Terraces Restoration Project ng Universal Harvester and the local government led by Banaue Mayor Jerry Dalipog.

Going back to Direk Joey, aside from being the Managing Director of 3rd TOFARM filmfest, magiging super busy din siya sa gagawin niyang horror movie under BG Productions na pagbibidahan ni Andrea Torres.

Samantala, magiging bahagi rin ng nasabing filmfest ang award-winning actress-director na si Laurice Guillen.

As for Direk Maryo J. delos Reyes unexpected death, ito lang ang nasabi ni Dr. How, “Nagalit ako sa kanya, e. Kasi may appointment siya sa akin, e, iniwanan niya ako. AWOL. Tsk!”

Malaking kawalan kasi si Direk Maryo para kay Dr. How, aside from being his Festival Director for TOFARM, naging malapit na magkaibigan na rin sila.
