Kaso laban sa UST law dean kaugnay ng Atio hazing ibinasura ng DOJ

IBINASURA ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang kasong kriminal na inihain laban kay University of Santo Tomas (UST) Law Dean Nilo Divina kaugnay ng pagkamatay Horacio “Atio” Castillo III matapos namang sumailalim sa hazing.

Isinama si Divina sa kaso dahil umano sa pagkabigo na ipahinto ang isinagawang initiation rites kay Atio.
Miyembro si Divina ng Aegis Juris Fraternity kung saan 10 sa mga miyembro nito ang nahaharap sa kasong paglabag sa Anti-Hazing Law.
Bukod kay Divina, ibinasura rin ng DOJ ang kaso laban sa mga miyembro ng Aegis Juris Foundation Inc. na sina William S. Merginio, Cezar N. Tirol, Oscar T. Co, Alexander J. Flores, Alvin S. Dysangco, Henry C. Pablo, Gabriel T. Robeniol, Michael Joseph G. Fernandez, Allan Christopher S. Agati, Paulino L. Yusi, Arthur B. Capili, Arnel A. Bernardo at Edwin C. Uy dahil sa kawalan ng sapat na ebidensiya.

Ikinatuwa naman ni Divina ang naging desisyon ng DOJ.

“I have always maintained my full innocence throughout this unfortunate incident and thankfully, this has now been established beyond question. As they say, the moral arc of the universe may be long but it bends towards justice. I continue to pray for justice for Atio and have full faith in our legal system,” ayon pa kay Divina.
