DOH nakapagtala ng 191 biktima ng mga paputok

SINABI ni Health Secretary Francisco Duque III  na nakapagtala ang DOH ng 191 kaso ng mga nabiktima ng mga paputok mula Disyembre 21, 2017 hanggang Enero 1, 2018.

Idinagdag ni Roque na mas mababa ito ng 68 porsiyento  kumpara sa kaparehong panahon noong isang taon.

“We are relatively pleased, relative because there are still injuries, but pleased because of the substantial reduction or decrease in fireworks-related injuries,” sabi ni Duque.

Ayon pa kay  Duque, ito na ang pinaka mababang naitalang datos sa nakalipas na mga taon.

Sinabi ni Duque na wala ring naitalang mga nasawi dahil sa paputok at pito lamang ang naitalang kaso ng mga nasabugan na kailangan na maputulan.

Ang Metro Manila ang  nakapagtala ng pinakamaraming kaso ng mga paputok kung saan nakapagtala ng  115 kaso o 60 porsiyento ng kabuuang bilang, na sinundan ng Western Visayas, na may  15 kaso at  Central Luzon, Calabarzon at Bicol, na may tig-13 kaso.

Samantala, sa National Capital Region (NCR), ang Maynila ang nakapagtala ng pinakamaraming kaso ng mga nabiktima ng mga paputok, na may kabuuang  63, na sinundan ng Quezon City, 14; Pasig City,   11 at Valenzuela, anim na kaso.

“The banned firecracker piccolo remains the top fireworks-causing injuries,” ayon pa kay  Duque.

Sinabi ni Duque na 11-buwang-gulang na sanggol ang pinakabatang nabiktima ng mga paputok, samantalang 96-anyos naman ang pinamatanda.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni Supt. Johnny Capalos, ng  Philippine National Police (PNP), na nakapagtala ang kapulisan ng isang kaso ng biktima ng ligaw na bala.

“Overall, the government’s campaign against fireworks has reduced the number of injuries. The DOH is grateful for the strong cooperation of our local government units and other government agencies for this success,” ayon pa kay Duque.
