PINIRMAHAN na ni Pangulong Duterte ang Executive Order number 26 na kung saan ipapatupad ang smoking ban sa buong bansa.
Kinumpirma ni Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella ang paglagda ni Duterte sa EO 26.
“In order to minimize access, particularly to inors, to tobacco products and in order ot provide a more supportive environment for those who are attempting to quit tobacco use, there is a need to strengthen existing measures on access restriction, including the regulation of sales, distribution and availability, and the measures prescribed under the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC),” sabi ni Duterte.
Ipinag-uutos din ng EO 26 ang pagtatayo ng “Designated Smoking Area” (DSA).
Kabilang sa bawal na sa ilalim ng EO26 ay ang mga sumusunod:
-paninigarilyo sa kulob na pampublikong lugar.
-pagbebenta ng sigarilyo sa mga menor de edad.
-pagbebenta ng sigarilyo na sakop ng 100 metro na malapit sa paaralan, palaruan at iba pang lugar na pinupuntahan ng mga kabataan.
Bawal din ang paninigarilyo sa mga elevator, hagdanan, sa mga lugar na malapit sa mga lugar na posibleng pagmulan ng sunog; sa mga pampubliko at pribadong hospital at sa mga lugar kung saan inihahanda ang mga pagkain.
Nahaharap naman sa kaparusahan ang mga lalabag sa EO 26 sa ilalim ng section 32 ng Republic Act 9211 at iba pang mga batas.
