Facebook execs nais padaluhin ni Pangilinan sa Senate probe
NAIS ni Sen. Francis Pangilinan na dumalo ang mga opisyal ng social media giant na Facebook na dumalo sa pagdinig ng Senado para ipaliwanag ang pagkalat ng pekeng balita sa kanilang site.
“Facebook acknowledged that it knows people want accurate information. We are interested in finding out how Facebook is doing it because the platform as it is now is still being abused by perpetrators of fake news,” sabi ni Pangilinan.
Noong isang linggo, naghain si Pangilinan ng resolusyon na naglalayong imbestigahan ng Senado kung paano mapapanagot ang Facebook sa kabiguang mapigilan ang mga pekeng balita na ipinopost sa site nito.
“The propagation of fake news stories has become an effective weapon of several political operatives to influence public opinion and national discourse,” ayon pa kay Pangilinan.
