SUGATAN ang limang magsasaka matapos silang pagbabarilin ng limang armadong kalalakihan habang papunta sila sa loob ng plantasyon sa Tagum City kaninang umaga.
Sinabi ni Monico Dayahan, ng Madaum Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association Incorporated (MARBAI) na naglalakad ang kanilang grupo ng 50 magsasaka ganap na alas-7 ng umaga nang sila ay lapitan ng 10 pribadong security guard na umano’y nagmula sa Lapanday Foods Corporation at pinaputukan sila.
“We never expected it. We were just on our way to harvest bananas when they shot us,” sabi ni Dayahan. “The ARBs are being dispossessed of supposedly government-awarded land and forced to live in deplorable hunger and poverty.”
Dinala agad ang mga biktima sa isang ospital para agad na magamot, bagamat hindi pa maayos ang sitwasyon sa lugar.
Tinatayang 200 agrarian reform beneficiaries ang kasalukuyang nagbabarikada sa lugar.
