CBCP: Pamimigay ng condom lalong magpapalala sa HIV-AIDs

SINABI ng isang opisyal ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) na lalo lamang magpapalala sa pagkalalat ng HIV-AIDS ang pagnanais ng Department of Health (DOH) na mamahagi ng condom sa mga paaralan.

Sa isang panayam sa Radyo Veritas, sinabi ni Balanga, Bataan Bishop Ruperto Santos, chairman ng CBCP – Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant Peoples, na inilalantad lamang ng DOH ang mga kabataan sa premarital sex.
“You cannot correct a mistake by making a mistake. Giving condoms or pills is just encouraging immoralities and illicit affairs,” sabi ni Santos.
Matatandaang inihayag ni DOH Secretary Paulyn Ubial sa paggunita ng World AIDS Day noong Huwebes na sisimulan ng ahensiya ang pamimigay ng condom sa mga mag-aaral para mapigilan ang pagtaas ng HIV at AIDS sa mga kabataang Pinoy.
Base sa ulat, umabot na 38,114 ang mga kaso ng HIV na naitala sa Pilipinas mula 1984 hanggang Oktubre 2016. Ayon pa sa DOH, 32,099 dito ay naitala mula 2011 hanggang 2016.
Idinagdag ng DOH na halos 33 porsiyento ng may HIV ay may edad na mula 15 hanggang 24.
Sinabi naman ni Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes na dapat ipagbawal sa mga 24-hour na mga tindahan ang pagbebenta ng contraceptives.
“That is absolutely immoral, absolutely irresponsible because of that we cannot allow and we would like the government to really do their best not to make those things (condoms, contraceptives) available selling simple things to our people,” sabi ni Bastes.
