KABALIGTARAN ng marami-rami ring kumuwestiyon as to how the MMFF selection committee has come up with its choice of eight entries this year ay ang abut-abot na galak naman ng nakakuwentuhan naming film reviewer.

“Pars maiba naman, ‘no! Sabihin na nating halos lahat ng napili, eh, indie films, this is clearly a refreshing breather from the previous festivals na puro na lang ‘Enteng Kabisote’ ang pumapasok!” simula ng aming kausap.

Curious, we probed where he was coming from. Nagbalik-tanaw siya sa isang pagtitipon ng mga respetadong miyembro ng isang grupo composed of industry workers not too long ago.

Isang dine-and-wine gathering ‘yon kung saan nagsilbing tagasalin ng red wine ang aming source, hopping from one table to another.

“Red wine?” tanong ng film critic sa isang female attendee (a respected singer-actress) when he stopped at her table habang nanonood ng pelikula.
Buwelta ng inaalok ng red wine, “No, thanks…I need scotch to stand this movie!”

Fast forward. Balik-MMFF 2016 ang topic namin uli. Our source just wanted to set the record straight.
