Pelikula nina Charo at Lloydie waging Best Film sa Venice filmfest
WAGI ng Best Film ang comeback movie after 20 years ng dating Presidente ng ABS-CBN na si Charo Santos Concio with John Lloyd Cruz sa Venice Film Festival 2016.
Directed by the award-winning Lav Diaz, ang 4-hour movie na “Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)” ang nakakuha ng pinakamataas na award na Golden Lion sa 73rd Venice filmfest.
Ginagampanan ni Ms. Charo ang karakter ni Horacia, isang guro na biktima ng frame up at nasintensyahang makulong ng 30 taon.
Bukod sa nasabing parangal, nanalo rin ng Best Foreign Language Film ang pelikula sa Sorriso perso Venezia 2016 Awards, isa sa mga “colla-teral awards” na ibinibigay bago ang announcement ng major honors.
“This is for my country, for the Filipino people, for our struggle and the struggle of humanity,” sabi ni Diaz sa kanyang acceptance speech.
Kung matatandaan, ang isa pang obra ni Lav Diaz na “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” na pinagbidahan nina John Lloyd at Piolo Pascual ay nanalo naman ng Alfred Bauer Prize sa 66th Berlin International Film Festival.
