Pangulong Duterte ayaw kay Steve Harvey bilang host ng Miss Universe sa PH

SINABI ni Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Tulfo Teo na tutol si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na si Steve Harvey ang mag-host ng Miss Universe na gaganapin sa Pilipinas sa Enero sa susunod na taon.

Sa isang press conference sa Malacanang, idinagdag ni Teo na bagamat may limang taong kontrata si Harvey bilang host ng Miss Universe, balak ni Duterte na kausapin mismo ang mga nag-oorganisa ng pageant para ipaalam ang kanyang pagtutol kay Harvey bilang host.

“When I told the President about that, negative agad ang sabi niya: ‘Hindi pwede.’ That was what he said. And he said: I’m going to talk to the Miss Universe na dapat hindi siya. So, that’s my problem,” pag-amin ni Teo.

Aniya, posibleng kumuha ang Pilipinas ng isa pang co-host ni Harvey bilang isang opsyon.

Kasabay nito, sinabi ni Teo na kalahati na sa $11 milyong pondo na kakailanganin para sa Miss Universe ang nakalap na ng pribadong sektor, sa pamumuno ni dating Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson.

“I believe he has already raised half of that, which is the requirement of the Miss Universe, 60 percent– 50 percent down payment,” dagdag ni Teo.

Tiniyak naman ni Teo na walang hinihinging kapalit ang pribadong sektor sa pag-iisponsor ng gastos ng Miss Universe.

Ayon pa kay Teo, kabilang sa mga lungsod na pagdadausan ng Miss Universe ay ang Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, at Vigan.

“The main events na lang will be in Manila and it will be at MOA Arena and then the pre-pageants will be in the hotels, somewhere in that area also,” sabi pa ni Teo.

Aniya, nakatakdang magdatingan ang mga kalahok sa Enero 13, 2017 at nakatakda naman sa Enero 30, 2017 ang araw mismo ng patimpalak.
