Deped hindi na tatanggap ng pondo mula sa sugal

Hindi na tatanggap ang Department of Education ng pera mula sa sugal.

     Ito ang sinabi ni Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., chairman Andre Domingo sa pagdinig ng House committee on appropriations.      Ayon kay Domingo sumulat si Education Sec. Leonor Briones sa kanila upang sabihin na hindi na ito tatanggap ng pondo mula sa sugal.       “The (Executive’s) directive for us that all the funds for social projects will be used for health and there is also a letter from Sec. Briones where she said she does not want gambling money to be used for education,” ani Domingo.      Binasa ni Domingo ang bahagi ng sulat ni Briones: “While Pagcor’s contributions in augmenting the limited resources of Deped in the past is recognized, let me reiterate my position that gambling should not be a source of funding for education.”      Sinabi ni Briones na tataas ng 31 porsyento ang pondo ng DepEd na malinaw umanong indikasyon na prayoridad ito ng gobyerno.       Sa susunod na taon ang DepEd ay makatatanggap ng P567 bilyon.       Ngayon taon ay P12 bilyon ang inilaan ng PAGCOR para sa mga school building projects na ipinagawa ng DepEd at Department of Public Works and Highways.
